Jorge Carderelli was born in San Sebastián, in the north of Spain, in the year 1971. He became a licensed Interior Architect in 1994, having studied at the Universidad de Artes y Oficios. Cardarelli’s voracious intellect has also inspired him to study landscape architecture – at the Parson’s School of Design in New York – as well as Contemporary Art. His studies in the latter field took place at Christie’s and Sotheby’s in London, as well as at the Art Institute of Chicago.
Cardarelli draws on the multi-faceted education that has honed his creative sensibilities to create luscious, fluid forms of resin that flow across luminescent mylar fields. The supple shapes seem to define, while at the same time conforming to, the space of each image. This seeming paradox elevates Cardarelli’s translucent resin expressions beyond simple formal abstraction, inviting the viewer’s gaze to move in, around and through his organic compositions.
