Francesco Capello
Born 1944 in Chivasso, Italy
Francesco Capello attended the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, where he graduated with the award reserved for the best students.
From 1970 to 1973, Capello was professor of "Pictorial Disciplines" at the Art School "Arturo Martini" of Savona and, until 1994, at the First Art School of Turin.
Capello has always been interested in image painting, after various explorations in the figurative field. In the early seventies, he radicalized realistic technique, making his discourse penetrating with subjects that highlight the world linked to contemporary society.
In this decade he deepened his research unconsciously very close to American hyper-realism.
Capello’s first solo exhibition was in 1967 at the Palazzo Centori Civic Gallery, Vercelli. Subsequently, his works were displayed in numerous solo and collective exhibitions in Italy and abroad. After a series of prestigious exhibitions in the United States and Europe, in 1999 he was given a solo exhibition in the Sala delle Colonne at the Castello del Valentino in Turin, once the Royal residence and now the Faculty of Architecture.
In 2002, he exhibited in Monaco, in the prestigious halls of the Metropole Palace in an exhibition organized by the Rotary Club and under the high patronage of the Crown Prince Albert of Monaco.
In the same year, Capello’s artwork was selected for the "Luci d'Artista, Manifesto" project, an exhibition conceived by the city of Turin, curated by the GAM and the Castello di Rivoli, which enlarged selected works to become urban furniture in the city of Turin.
In 2004, the city of Chivasso dedicated an anthological exhibition to Capello in the public space of "Palazzo Einaudi" presented and presided over by the famous art critic Vittorio Sgarbi.
In the following years, in addition to exhibiting in prestigious Italian galleries including the Galleria Marieschi in Milan and the Galleria 44 in Turin, he worked in the United States collaborating with Gallery Biba in Palm Beach, which presented his works at "Art Fire Palm Beach 3" and "Scope Basel" in Miami. Recently, besides having participated in prestigious public exhibitions in Spain and in other European and American countries, Capello has worked almost exclusively on commissions in Italy and abroad.
